Limit-Texas Holdem

Poker; the game with high payouts and competitive odds, often aimed at shrewd players trying to win. Texas Hold’em is a game that originated in Texas some time in the 1900s, and spread across the United States before being regulated by the Gambling Authorities. Texas Hold’em has since increased in popularity due to the new advances in films, and also World Championships that are easily followed by fans of the game due to online playing and television coverage.

In a Limit, or Fixed-Limit game of Texas Hold’em, the game involves players placing a set amount of money into the pot after receiving two cards. The hole cards are placed face down before the player, and are not seen by other players until the final stages of the game, sometimes not at all the betting is pre-determined by the house prior to the game. It could be a fixed limit, where a set amount is designated, or a spread limit, where the amount can range between two different amounts.

After the first round of betting has passed, and players have folded or seen the other players to the next round, three community cards are overturned. Betting then commences based on the players hand, and the up-turned flop cards in the centre of the table. Again, in a Limit game of Texas Hold’em, it is sometimes stated that a player can only raise the bet by a stated amount (most often the same as the initial bet limit) a set number of times, typically four, before the bets are capped. After this round of betting, when all players have decided to continue playing for the pot, the turn card is then placed face-up next to the other community cards.

Players can only bet up to the capped limit, or raise it to the fourth level of the limit if it wasn’t done in the round before. Next card to come is the river card. This is the fifth and final community card that is drawn before the Showdown of hands. If the maximum raising allowed in a game of Limit Texas Hold’em has not been reached, then this would be done now, to increase the size of the pot and ensure high jackpots. If all players have seen the pot to its level, then the cards are shown, and the winner has made the best hand from a mix of the hole cards and the community cards. However, if the best hand is made from all five of the community cards, then winnings are shared equally between players and a new round begins.

A game of Limit Texas Hold’em, especially when played in an online casino is very useful for players who are new to the poker scene, and don’t wish to place high bets until they get to grips with the game. While the jackpots are limited, playing the game a few more times can increase the winnings and allow for winning strategies to be devised that ensure success.
